Marine and Technical
The Marine & Technical department is comprised of two parts: the Deck department and the Engine department.
The Deck department consists of personnel responsible for the navigation, maintenance and upkeep of the vessel, as well as safety-and security-related functions.
The Engine department is responsible for all technical functions of the ship, including electrical, plumbing and air conditioning systems and the ship’s propulsion system.

Our Deck department is comprised of approximately 70 officers and crew on each ship who navigate our vessels, provide shipboard security, maintain the non-mechanical portions of our ships’ exteriors and interiors.
They control the ship’s safety systems for lifeboats, galleys, elevators and phones. The ship’s Captain is ultimately responsible for navigation and all aspects of the ship’s operation, as well as the safety and welfare of our guests and crew. This department includes Captain, Staff Captain, Bridge Officers, and Maintenance teams. Also falling under the deck department is the separate team of dedicated medical staff who care for all guests’ and employees’ health needs. This includes Ship Physicians and Nurses.
The approximately 60 members of the Engine Department on each ship are responsible for operating the ship’s engines and for maintaining the engine room, as well as all equipment on board. The Engine Control Room is staffed 24 hours a day by licensed engineers, who monitor all on board operating systems from propulsion and heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, to the power plant, desalination and environmental systems.
This department includes Chief Engineer, Staff Chief Engineers, Engine Officers, Electronic Officers, Plumbers, Electricians, Oilers and Wipers.
